Session scope

What a diagnostic session records in 45 to 70 minutes

Fault-code read, freeze-frame data and live measured values, taken in that order, in the bay or on the lift. The session closes with a written record, not a verbal opinion.

Inside a session

  • 01 Fault-code readEvery control module scanned; stored and pending codes exported exactly as they read. 10-15 min
  • 02 Freeze-frame dataEngine speed, load, temperature and voltage captured at the moment the fault was set. 5-10 min
  • 03 Live measured valuesSensors read while the engine runs, each value placed against its tolerance band. 20-30 min
  • 04 Written recordCode list, measured values, verdict and the next step, printed and filed by job number. 10-15 min

Duration 45-70 min Record format printed + PDF Repeat visit charged separately

04 / Diagnostics

Example rows from a session record

Each line pairs a fault code with the value read at the connector, the tolerance taken from the manufacturer's data, and the verdict the technician signed. Readings are logged at reference conditions: coolant 85-95 C, engine at idle unless the row says otherwise.

Session 24-1187 / Skoda Octavia III, 2016 / 184 320 km / branch 02, 14 March
Code Measured Tolerance Verdict
P0299Charge pressure below setpoint 1 320 mbar 1 550-1 800 mbar Attention
P2181Coolant temperature regulation 88 C 85-105 C Within tolerance
U0100Bus voltage drop at CAN splice 0.02 V below 0.05 V Within tolerance
B1B02Resting current draw, locked, 60 min 41 mA at or below 30 mA Attention

Rows are reproduced from closed work orders with owner consent. Plate numbers are masked; part numbers and technician IDs stay on the printed record.

Known limits

What a diagnostic session confirms, and what it cannot

A session does not always reveal an intermittent failure that occurs only under load or at a specific operating temperature. That is a limit of the method, not a hidden charge.

Intermittent faults
A fault that appears once every few hundred kilometres may not reproduce on a stationary lift. We record the conditions present during the session and keep the code history in the written report.
Load and temperature
Some failures surface only at full throttle, on a long incline, or after the engine reaches operating temperature. A cold bay cannot force those conditions on demand.
Pending codes
A pending code with no stored freeze-frame gives direction, not a verdict. It stays unconfirmed until a repeat measurement supports it.
Mechanical wear
Electronic diagnostics read sensors and control units. A worn bushing or a failing bearing is confirmed by physical measurement, not by a scan.
Parts availability
A session is not a parts quote. Component pricing and lead time are issued after the fault is confirmed, and replacement always follows a documented service procedure.

Every session is documented: the complaint in the customer's own words, measured values against tolerance, and the conditions the vehicle was tested under. See the measured record on this page for an example.

04 / Intake

Request a diagnostic slot

Give the plate or VIN and your city. The branch confirms the slot and the labour rate per norm-hour before the vehicle goes on the lift.

A session measures and documents what the vehicle reports. It does not always reveal an intermittent failure that occurs only under load or at a specific temperature.
